Camp Class Information

HEARTBEAT:

Our mission is to love and equip the generations through Discipleship, Community and Creativity. Our goal for these classes are to love all children that come (as well as their families) and to have a space where they can learn and grow their creative adventurous minds. We believe that every child is unique and has gift to share with this world. We long for children to enjoy the beauty of learning through ways they may have never explored before-and to freely walk in their giftings. These classes are more than just teaching children a creative medium... they are an avenue to equip them to be kind leaders who connect with the beauty of the world and people around them. We know we are not perfect people with a perfect program. We are constantly learning, growing, changing and expanding. Please feel free to communicate with us ways we can serve your family even better. We are so thankful you are a part of this with us.

Classes begin at 9:10, 10:10, 12:00, and 1:00. Lunch is from 11:00-12:00. We ask that students arrive no later than 8:45 to be dropped off at our Worship Barn. Drop off time is 8:25-8:45 and Pickup from 2:00-2:15. We will begin each morning with worship together and split into teams for weekly devotional time. We ask that students arrive for their classes on time ready to go so as to make our classes flow so much easier.

CLASS LOCATIONS

Our classes will take place in the Lodge, Worship barn, Cabin 1 (Chickadee), Cabin 4 (Blue Heron), or our Mission House. When weather is nice, we like to have as many experiences and classes outside as possible. Our outdoor survival class will primarily be outdoors. Lunchtime will also be primarily outdoors at our picnic tables. If you have questions regarding locations, feel free to reach out. There will be a meeting space for outdoor survival and lunch in cold and yucky weather.

CLASSES OFFERED

Every semester we try to have a new variety of classes that your campers can explore and learn something new about. We try to have classes in the categories of Outdoor Adventure, Visual Art, Performative Art, Creative electives. Some of those classes include cooking, theater, photography, lego building, painting, nature journaling, music & dance, world exploration, set design and building, science experiments, outdoor survival (a favorite), leadership in creative avenues, printmaking, and many more. Different ages will have different classes and we do our best to give everyone the opportunity to learn something they would enjoy for their age range. Classes are usually not finalized until a couple weeks before classes because of registrations still coming in. Once registrations are closed we finalize our class pairings and our classes offered. Please let us know if you have any questions about this!

SUPPLIES

Your child(ren) will not need to bring supplies for their classes. All supplies will be provided. The only needed items for their day is a labeled lunch and water bottle.

PARENTS ON CAMPUS

It is important that we know who is on campus all times for the safety of our team and our campers.  If you are staying on site, you must contact Tony or Lauren to coordinate and you must park in the parking area near the mission house to keep our drive open for pickup and drop-off. There are different spaces in classes for parents to be present and there are spaces around camp for parents to take little learners to stretch their legs and voices if needed. We have walking trails as well as fields to run and enjoy. If you are a parent and interested in volunteering for different things at Camp Kindling, you can email me at lauren@makerandkin.org

DROP OFF AND PICK UP

PLEASE DRIVE VERY SLOW ON OUR DRIVE AT ALL TIMES. THERE ARE CHILDREN WHO ARE ALL AROUND CAMP AT VARIOUS PLACES AND TIMES.

Drop off can begin at 8:25 each morning. Students need to arrive no later than 8:45. You will pull in to camp and pull all the way down the drive. You wont be able to miss us! Every morning we will have a welcome as well as a time of praise and prayer before dividing into groups. We will be outside the Parking area ready to escort your child to the Worship Barn. When you pull in for drop off/ pickup please drive to the left of our drive and circle around to pick up your child, that way children are not having to cross traffic to get to their vehicle. Please be aware that our drive is not very wide and you may need to pull to the side to allow other drivers to enter/exit. If you want to park and walk your child in, please pull to the very end of our drive so it does not disrupt drop off.

For pickups each day, we are emailing parents an image for you to print out and bring with you to camp for pickup. You will pickup at the same spot you drop off and we will have people outside ready to help. Please write your child(ren) name on the image and display it in your window or show it to us when picking up your child at the worship barn. We will walk your child to your car in the pickup line. Once you have your child and we give you the go ahead, you can slowly exit. Let us know of any special circumstances with drop off/ pick up and please give your pickup card to a relative that may be picking up your child that day. If you have someone other than you picking up your child, please communicate that to Lauren Wagoner so our team is made aware.

SAFETY AND EMERGENCIES

Our goal is to keep children safe while on camp property. We do understand at times we will be outdoors enjoying the beauty of our surroundings. There are insects such as mosquitos and different types of bees, spiders, etc... that can bite your child. If your child has a known allergy to insect bites, please be sure to contact us and let us know. Also, our lake and dock is off limits to campers. Classes may meet at times near the lake, but are never allowed to play around the lake/ dock area. Please help us by reinforcing to your children the rule of no playing in or near the lake. At any time we will be sure to contact you if your child becomes injured and needs your attention.

Allergies: If your child has a food, insect, or medicine allergy please let us know so we can make sure it is documented for all of our team through your camper info form.

Every child must also fill out a waiver and their child info form before the start of classes. You can find that info HERE

BEHAVIOR

We want our campus to be a space that every child feels intentionally loved by their teachers and other students. Each child is uniquely created- and we embrace the beauty of our differences. Prior to classes starting, please sit with your children and teach them to love others and show respect and kindness while at classes. Bullying will not be allowed at camp in any form. We ask that teachers and students respect one another in action and words. If we have issues with your child in class being disrespectful to teachers or other students, we will call parents so that we can address the issue together in love. If your child is bullied or disrespected, please reach out to us so that your child feels heard and we can reach into the problem together. We do not want to run from these problems but to address them, teach each other how to walk in forgiveness so that healing can happen. If a child is aggressive/ bullies multiple times our policy is as follows: 1st time we contact both sets of parents and walk campers through restoration by words and actions. 2nd time we ask that the camper takes 1 week off of classes. 3rd time we ask that the camper not return for the semester.

We know that at this stage of life many campers are going through multiple emotional changes and want to meet campers in their needs instead of pushing past struggles they may be having. It is very important to us that every child is heard and we are able to teach campers how to walk through life in new situations and with new people in a healthy way.

LUNCHES

Lunch time is 11:00-12:00 each day. Please send a labeled lunch and a water bottle with your child every camp day. Every lunch and water container should be labeled with the students full name. We will store lunches and redistribute them at lunchtime. We will have lunches at the picnic tables on beautiful days and inside the lodge during bad weather. The first half of lunch time will be eating followed by free time where students can play on our fields and our courts. If your student has a food allergy, please let us know on your liability and information form so we can note it for all teachers.

DRESS

Please make sure your children are dressed in camp appropriate clothing: Good tennis shoes or outdoor shoes, comfortable clothing, and coats/outerwear when needed. PLEASE SEND YOUR CHILD WITH A COAT EVEN IF THEY INSIST THEY DO NOT NEED ONE. Please wear clothes that can get dirty or colored on with paint or other creative mediums. Please no inappropriate wording or pictures on clothing. We ask that children wear modest tops and bottoms where no undergarments are showing.

TEAMS

Your student will be assigned a Team their first day of classes. These teams span every age from our littlest to our oldest. They will meet at the beginning of camp every week for a time to get to know each other and do a devotional together. We have always wanted to connect children across ages and teach them that a joy-filled life is one where we include and connect to others. Each of our grades have something to learn from one another and we cannot wait for the discussions and connections that will be made! Please make sure you are here by 8:45 every week so your child can be a part.
